PhD in Modern History at KU Leuven in 2002 with a thesis on ‘Economic growth and living standards. The development of private consumer expenditure and food consumption in Belgium, 1800-1913’. He is director of the Interfaculty Center for Agrarian History (ICAG) at KU Leuven, director of the Center for Agrarian History (CAG ngo, a heritage expertise center), and associate professor of Rural History at the research unit Modernity & Society 1800-2000 (MoSa) of the Faculty of Arts, KU Leuven. His research focuses on the social and economic history of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with as main themes agriculture and countryside, the development of the food chain and food culture.

Curriculum

Doctor en Historia Moderna por la KU Leuven en 2002 con la tesis titulada "Crecimiento económico y niveles de vida. El desarrollo del gasto de consumo privado y del consumo de alimentos en Bélgica, 1800-1913”. Es director del Interfaculty Center for Agrarian History (ICAG) en KU Leuven y director del Center for Agrarian History (CAG) y profesor asociado de Historia Rural en la unidad de investigación Modernidad y Sociedad 1800-2000. (MoSa) de la Facultad de Artes de KU Leuven. Su investigación se centra en la historia social y económica de los siglos XIX y XX, teniendo como temas principales la agricultura y el campo, así como el desarrollo de cadenas alimentarias y de la cultura alimentaria.
