Luego del auge de los estudios sobre el tema en las décadas de 1960 y 1970, en los últimos años académicos de diversas partes del mundo han revisitado el tema, haciéndolo a la luz de nuevos enfoques, problemáticas y fuentes. En los últimos cuatro años, investigadores del Colegio Mexiquense, A.C., el Centro de Investigaciones en Geografía Ambiental de la Universidad Autónoma de México y del Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora han organizado coloquios y seminarios sobre el tema, tanto a nivel latinoamericano, como global
En esos eventos se han reunido más de ochenta especialistas para dialogar y reflexionar sobre qué fue y qué es la Revolución Verde y cuáles han sido sus repercusiones ambientales, agrarias, tecnocientíficas, sociales, políticas y culturales en las sociedades contemporáneas. Como resultado de esos diálogos, el campo de estudio de la Revolución Verde se ha ampliado, se han establecido consensos, pero también problematizado períodos, actores y espacios, mostrando que el proceso fue plural y diverso, localizado, pero a la vez global.
The Green Revolution network connects researchers interested in studying and sharing data and information on the topic from global, national, or regional perspectives. The Green Revolution was one of the most significant productive and social transformation processes in rural areas worldwide during the second half of the twentieth century. Following a surge of studies on this topic in the 1960s and 1970s, recent years have seen academics from various regions revisit the subject, incorporating new approaches, challenges, and data. In the last four years, researchers from Colegio Mexiquense, A.C., the Center for Research in Environmental Geography at the Autonomous University of Mexico, and the Dr. José María Luis Mora Research Institute have organized colloquia and seminars on the Green Revolution at both Latin American and global levels
Over eighty specialists have participated in these events to discuss and reflect on what the Green Revolution was and is, as well as its environmental, agrarian, techno-scientific, social, political, and cultural impacts on contemporary societies. As a result of these discussions, the field of study concerning the Green Revolution has expanded. A consensus has been established, but periods, key actors, and contexts have also been problematized, highlighting that the process was plural and diverse, localized yet global in its effects
