Associate Professor in Rural Development, Senior Lecturer in Environmental Communication at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Her research interests concern how ideas and practices regarding today's sustainability challenges in food production and natural resource management are negotiated and turned into practice, particularly how they affect marginalized groups. Professor Fischer's research is focused especially on Africa (esp. Uganda & South Africa) where she studies agricultural and natural resource policies and broader development agendas that affect African smallholders.

Profesora asociada de Desarrollo Rural y de Comunicación Ambiental en la Universidad Sueca de Ciencias Agrícolas. Sus intereses de investigación se refieren a cómo se negocian y ponen en práctica las ideas y prácticas relativas a los desafíos actuales de sostenibilidad en la producción de alimentos y la gestión de recursos naturales, en particular cómo afectan a los grupos marginados. La investigación de la profesora Fischer se centra especialmente en África (especialmente Uganda y Sudáfrica), donde estudia políticas agrícolas y de recursos naturales y agendas de desarrollo más amplias que afectan a los pequeños agricultores africanos.
