Xiuli Xu is Professor of Humanities and Development Studies at China Agricultural University and Deputy Dean of the China Institute for South-South Cooperation in Agriculture/Belt and Road Institute for Agricultural Cooperation. Her research focuses on development issues, particularly China’s overseas investment and foreign aid in African and Asian countries, the evolution of development thinking, and developmental state building in African countries. She is the lead author of a series of articles on the nature and daily operation of China’s aid and overseas investment published in World Development, Development and Change, and IDS Bulletin.

Profesora de Humanidades y Estudios de Desarrollo en la Universidad Agrícola de China y vicedecana del Instituto de China para la Cooperación Sur-Sur en Agricultura/Instituto de la Franja y la Ruta para la Cooperación Agrícola. Su investigación se centra en cuestiones de desarrollo, en particular la inversión extranjera de China y la ayuda exterior en países africanos y asiáticos, la evolución del pensamiento sobre el desarrollo y la construcción de estados desarrollistas en los países africanos. Es la autora principal de una serie de artículos sobre la naturaleza y el funcionamiento diario de la ayuda y la inversión extranjera de China publicados en World Development, Development and Change e IDS Bulletin.
