Ph.d. in history by the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Professor in the Escuela de Historia y la Maestría en Historia Aplicada at the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica and researcher in the Grupo HISTAGRA. He was Chair of the Latin American and Caribbean Society for Environmental History (from 2018 to 2021), and currently is a Committee Member for the Elinor Melville Prize for Latin American Environmental History (2019). His research interests are the Green Revolution in Latin America and the socio-ecological transition in tropical agriculture.

Doctor en Historia por la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, España. Profesor de la Escuela de Historia y Docencia en Historia Aplicada de la Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica e investigador del Grupo HISTAGRA. Fue presidente de la Sociedad Latinoamericana y del Caribe de Historia Ambiental (de 2018 a 2021) y actualmente es Miembro del Comité del Premio Elinor Melville de Historia Ambiental Latinoamericana (2019). Sus intereses de investigación están en la Revolución Verde y la transición socioecológica en la agricultura tropical en América Latina.
